Retreat Recovery Guide - Kiranjot

Retreat Recovery Guide

I’m just back from three weeks away in Ibiza & Formentera. My heart feels full, or vast and empty depending which way you look at it. I feel more relaxed than I have been in months, possibly years. How I’m hanging on to that lovely post retreat feeling…

Connect to the five elements in your home

Within 24 hours of arriving home I connected to all the five elements within my space. I lit a candle (fire) I mindfully connecting to the source of (water) in my house. I went for a walk outside and took in my surroundings and marvelled at the beauty I saw in my neighbourhood (earth) I lit incense (air) and prayed (ether)

Get outside

As much as possible get outside. Nature is THE best healer. So good for the soul as it enlivens all our senses. On retreat we’re outside most of the time, now I’m home and I don’t want to be cooped up. I’ve just finished breakfast sat in the garden, it was a tiny bit more effort to sit outside but with the sun on my skin I felt like I was back in Ibiza.

Write out your big learnings

I got a big message while away and a long list of insights which will transpire into an equally long list of ‘things’ to do to keep my life heading in the good orderly direction I want it to. Journalling doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’m very forgetful so I’ve got a notebook with me at all times and I’m writing in it.

Stay creative

Retreats always spark inspiration. My big message this time was “God’s timing is immaculate” I will make into a beautiful affirmation type art work and put it somewhere visible in my house so I have a spiritual clue back to faith the next time I forget.

Take action

The big long list of ‘things’ to do, well some of those are quick and easy wins, some will take a little more time, I’m committed to them using my abundance of good vibes as rocket fuel. I’m not thinking too much, I did that while I was away now I’m in doing mode.

Don’t overthink it

When you overthink things your mind starts to trip you up. If they’re habitual changes, like not eating in front of the telly, do them straight away, don’t delay, remember we’re wanting to hold onto those good sweet feelings. Even the big monumental life changes, like divorce start with small steps. Easier to to do post retreat when you’re feeling brave and you’re pointing in the right direction, go forth sweetheart.

Gratitude Gratitude Gratitude

It’s easy to feel bummed out when you get back from an epic trip. Let’s not take travel as a pleasurable activity for granted as it’s not a given for most. Look around you, stroke your cat, water your plants, breathe, you were delivered safely back home, thank God. And if home is not a happy place start taking the steps you need now you’re more energised to remedy that.

Keep up your spiritual practice

This is the foundation of your day. It’s the magic ingredient. They say when you lean on the cosmos the cosmos clears the path. Lean hard and it will give you so much, wherever you are. God loves you and wants you to succeed.

TAKE IT SLOWLY

This is huge for me, for what feels like the first time ever, I am taking things as slowly as possible. Modern life is so stressful because it’s run on hyper speed. I am so chill and calm and happy right now, I have a list as long as my arm, it’ll get done, or not (that’s a whole other blog post) eventually, remember God’s timing is immaculate 😉

Plan the next trip!

p.s. Start planning that next trip hahahahaha of course, India anyone? Gotta have something to look forward to. Check my website for my Kundalini Yoga retreat in Goa March 2024 http://www.kiranjot.com/goa2024/
